Vanderburgh County - Open Enrollment

11/02/09 – 11/20/09

Vanderburgh County will be offering the same three plan designs for 2010 through Welborn Health Plans.  There are no changes to the plan for 2010.  If you are happy with your current selections, you don’t have to do anything.  All three plans will include the “Multiplan Coverage” so you are not limited to physicians and facilities in the Evansville area.  Multiplan offers an extensive network of national providers across the U.S. with co-pays and coverage at In-Network Benefits.

To verify your physician and hospital choices you can use this link to take you to the Physician Directory  http://www.welbornhealthplans.com/employer/providers.html  Just select “Group Members” then “Physician Directories” and scroll down the website page and click on Deaconess or Deaconess/St. Mary’s.  Scroll down further to see the Multiplan and PHCS Network directories.

MISCELLANEOUS REMINDERS:

Medicare Part D:  All three of our prescription plans are creditable with Medicare upon retirement.  You will not incur any penalty with Medicare when you roll directly from our plan to Medicare.

Humana Medicare Supplement for Retirees:  A Medicare Supplement Advantage Plan is offered by The Humana Group to any Vanderburgh County Retiree or their spouse/widow(er).  To be eligible you: are at least 65 years old, enrolled in Medicare Parts A & B,  have 10 years of County service and are vested in PERF.  You need to contact Morgan Hataway with Humana directly at 812/449-0678 or mhataway@humana.com.

PERF Rate:  The 2010 PERF Employer Contribution Rate will be 7.75%.  This is the amount that Vanderburgh County contributes towards your county pension.

PERF On-Line:  www.perf.in.gov is your direct link with PERF.  Every full time Vanderburgh County employee needs to register with PERF.  Click on MEMBER LOG IN (green arrow) then REGISTER MY ACCOUNT.  You will enter a user ID and PERF will mail you a password within 48 hours.   After registration you will be able to access your account, statements, retirement calculators and make changes to investment funds, name, address and beneficiaries.

Prescription Drug Coverage:  Approximately 70% of our renewal rate increase each year is attributed to prescription drug usage.  If we can lower that usage, we can lower our annual premiums.  Currently, Wal-mart, Sam’s Club, Target and Buehler’s Buylow all offer fantastic prices on Generic drugs without using your insurance.  These plans offer generic drugs with co-pays lower than your insurance co-pay.   You save money and help lower claims cost.

If you have refills left, any of these stores can simply transfer your prescription and fill it.  If you are out of refills, have your doctor call in or write a new script.  Call or go online to get more information.

Dependent Status:

Welborn Plans:            End of the Month age 19 if other coverage is available or apply for age 24 extension in writing to WHP.

End of Month age 24 if no other coverage is available and they are 50% dependent on the subscriber.

End of Year age 25 for Full Time Student

Health Resources Dental:        Covered through End of Month age 24
