SUMMARY OF VANDERBURGH COUNTY

JAIL DEDICATION

DECEMBER 27, 2005



The Vanderburgh County Board of Commissioners, in conjunction with Vanderburgh County Sheriff Brad Ellsworth held a dedication of the new Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office and Community Correction Complex at 3500 N. Harlan Avenue, Evansville, Indiana, on December 27, 2005 beginning at 3:30 p.m.

Comments were made by Commissioner Bill Nix. There was recognition of elected officials present. Special thanks were extended to the following individuals and entities; Vanderburgh County Council, Major Steve Woodall of the Vanderburgh County Community Corrections Complex, Paul Summers of United Consulting Engineers and Architects, Dave Rector of the Evansville-Vanderburgh County Building Authority, the five prime contractors; Williams Brothers, Great Lakes Hotel Supply, Peyronnin Construction, Mel-Kay Electric, and integrator.com, Les Smith of James L.Shireman, Inc., Construction Manager, Brad Ellsworth, Vanderburgh County Sheriff, and Eric Williams, Chief Deputy.


Comments were also made by Sheriff Brad Ellsworth. Sheriff Ellsworth gave a brief history of the Vanderburgh County jail, including the problem of overcrowding, various methods attempted to alleviate this situation; ie: PMSI study, Blue Ribbon Committee.


The attendants were then released to participate in a guided tour of the facilities.


No final action was taken at this dedication.
