Vanderburgh County Concludes Phase II Certification Testing On May 27, 2010 Vanderburgh County concluded Phase II Integration Testing which is a requirement of the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance for all Indiana counties to comply with 50 IAC 23 by June 30, 2010.

Led by project manager Bill Fluty, the certification process began in February 2009 to integrate Manatron's ProVal and MVP tax databases. Real time integration between the tax databases allows property transfers, address changes and designation of property classes and legal acreage to be entered into one application that will populate both databases.

Sharing this information between the Auditor, Assessor and Treasurer will end duplicate entry of data into separate databases and paves the way for more efficient and improved service to the taxpayer.

Consulting firm Crowe Horwath, LLP tested and approved the integration scenarios for the county and will submit the results to the Department of Local Government Finance. Certification will be completed pending DLGF approval of the test results.

2009 Local Homestead Credit -  On September 30, 2009, the Treasurer's Office mailed the 2009 local homestead credit applied to the 2009 fall tax installment. Per the Department of Local Government Finance, the entire local homestead credit was applied to the fall bill. This is how the credit will be applied:
  • Homeowners who qualify for the local homestead exemption will receive a new adjusted fall bill. Homeowners who paid only their spring installment, but not their fall installment, will receive the entire credit on their fall installment, meaning their fall bill will be adjusted lower than their spring bill. This fall installment will be due Tuesday, November 10, 2009.
  • People who are in escrow, will receive an adjusted fall bill watermarked "duplicate sent to mortgage company" and will see a credit applied to their fall bill which will come with a notice explaining that their escrow company will receive their adjusted bill and will pay the adjusted amount.
  • Homeowners who have paid both the spring and fall installments will receive a refund check.
  • Click here to access the 2010 Tax Bill Database on the Treasurer's website. Scroll down the tax bill to view taxes paid in 2009. If you received a homestead refund in 2009, this needs to be deducted from the 2009 total.

  • Homestead Rebate checks due to 2007 tax relief provided by the Indiana General Assembly were mailed out on December 20, 2007 and December 21 2007. To be eligible for these rebates, persons must be the owner of their primary residence and have a valid homestead exemption for 2006 taxes paid in 2007. Click on the Homestead Rebate link above to find out more.
